Tara Hughee, M.A., LMHC, is a New York licensed mental health counselor with a degree in pastoral counseling & spiritual care from Fordham University. Through her work, explores the importance of supporting one’s mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Before she became a therapist, Tara had hopes of a career in media + journalism. She earned her bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Sociology and a certificate in Women’s Studies. After pivoting from her media dreams, she came to fully realize her passion for supporting others.

Tara’s experiences include serving as a counselor and clinical supervisor at an East Harlem domestic violence agency. For years she has supported survivors of intimate partner violence and their children through individual counseling, group counseling, and advocacy. Her training since her graduate studies have included Child-Parent Psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems. Tara also developed group curricula for psycho-educational support groups on healing from experiences of intimate partner violence and coping with trauma and anger with trauma-informed, evidence-based practices.

Tara later provided counseling at Redeemer Counseling Services located in New York City. The center is committed to Gospel-centered counseling, a framework she has appreciated and adopted.

As a therapist and founder of Tara Hughee Mental Health Counseling, she is interested in supporting adult clients with trauma, anxiety, grief, boundaries, struggles with self-esteem, life transitions, relational challenges, and exploring their faith.

Tara’s self-care outside of her diverse work and experiences includes cooking New York Times recipes, spending quality time with her loved ones, and enjoying a good novel.
